Curt Frank

Curt’s rowing career began at UC Berkeley; after college, he came back to compete at the masters level and contribute to club leadership, first with Lake Merritt Rowing Club and then with Capital Rowing Club in Washington, D.C.

In 1999, Curt began his bicoastal coaching career with LMRC. After moving to the east coast to pursue graduate studies, Curt started as an assistant coach, and later became the head coach, for the University of Maryland, College Park’s Women’s Team. In this capacity, he focused on building the startup team, raising funds to acquire equipment, and building a team competitive with their local and regional competition. While at University of Maryland, he also trained and mentored student and assistant coaches. In the same timeframe, Curt coached Capital’s Club AM and novice sweep programs, founded Capital’s Club PM sweep program, and coached masters and youth summer programs at Thompson’s Boat Center.

As Curt finished his graduate studies and transitioned to professional life, he became involved with an annual Learn To Row event for WeCanRowDC, a breast cancer survivors group in Washington, D.C.; he returns to coach this unique program each year.

Fast forward a decade and Curt has returned to his passion. At EBRC he is pleased to serve as the club’s executive director, women’s head coach, and assistant youth coach.
